Size - 240cm long (nearly 8ft long). Fantastic condition for the age with lots of raised and sunk areas which really give a great detail to this already amazing world map. Would look great in a cafe, book store, man cave or waiting room as it is extremely eye catching at nearly 8ft in length and 5ft in height! The map is made of rubber.
The wooden dowels are strong and sturdy; can be hung via attached string but recommend using screws through the manufacturers grommet holes. Collection in person preferred due to size! Please check my Europe map I have for sale out too!Brief history from their website. 1948 Geoplastische Verlag Ernst Knoll was founded in Vlotho/Weser (Germany). The production of the first 3D relief maps made out of plaster started. 1952 The entire manufacturing was adapted: rubber was used instead of plaster for the production. From this time on, relief maps were rollable and could be transported and stored in the schools more easily. Plasters made maps, as well as, rubber made maps were painted in manual labour. 1956 The development came to a crucial point: Plastic foils instead of rubber were used.
